About Smartphone Sahay Yojana

The reach of digital services in agriculture is growing day by day across India and Gujarat. Farmers are increasingly adopting new techniques using IT technology, which helps boost their income.

Through digital technology, farmers can access weather forecasts, pest/disease alerts, modern farming practices, and information on government support schemes. As the use of smartphones increases in agriculture, the state’s agriculture department has launched the Smartphone Sahay Yojana.

Farmers can use smartphones for taking photographs related to agriculture, sending emails, SMS, and sharing videos. Keeping this in mind, the agriculture department has introduced this scheme to support the purchase of smartphones equipped with digital cameras, multimedia players, touch screens, web browsers, and internet connectivity. Under this scheme, farmers will receive assistance of up to ₹6000.

Objective of Smartphone Sahay Yojana

The main goal is to help Gujarat’s farmers gain better access to digital services. Through smartphones, farmers can get information on pest control, farming technologies, and farmer-focused assistance easily. Hence, the government is providing financial help for smartphone purchases.

Benefits under Smartphone Sahay Yojana

Under this scheme, financial support is provided for smartphone purchases. The assistance amount has now been increased from 10% to 40%.

• Farmers can avail assistance on smartphones worth up to ₹15,000.
• Assistance will be 40% of the smartphone cost or ₹6000, whichever is lower.
• For example, a farmer buying a phone worth ₹8000 will receive ₹3200 (40%).
• If the smartphone costs ₹16,000, the assistance will be ₹6000, not ₹6400.
• The aid is applicable only to smartphones.
• Accessories like battery backups, earphones, or chargers are not included.

Eligibility Criteria For Farmer Smartphone Scheme

To avail the benefits of the scheme, farmers must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant must be a resident of Gujarat.
• The applicant must be a land-holding farmer.
• Even if a farmer holds multiple land accounts, they can only avail the scheme once.
• In the case of joint ownership, only one person listed on the 8-A record will be eligible.
• The assistance is strictly for smartphone purchases only.
• Accessories such as battery backup devices, earphones, or chargers are not covered under the scheme.

To apply online via the iKhedut portal, farmers will need the following documents:

• Copy of Aadhaar Card
• Cancelled cheque
• Bank passbook
• Original GST bill for smartphone purchase
• IMEI number of the smartphone
• Land ownership documents
• Copy of 8-A form from AnyRoR Gujarat

Purchase Rules for Smartphone Assistance Scheme

• To avail the benefits, farmers must follow certain rules:
• Apply online through the iKhedut portal.
• Approval will be granted by the Taluka Implementation Officer.
• Approved applicants will be informed via SMS or email.
• The selected farmers must purchase the smartphone within 15 days of approval.
• After purchase, the applicant must sign the form and submit it along with other documents to the Gram Sevak or Taluka officer.
• The original bill for the smartphone must be submitted within the stipulated time.

Farmers must apply online through the iKhedut Portal. After submission, they should keep a printout of the application. For more information, farmers can contact their local Gram Sevak, Taluka-level Agricultural Extension Officer, or District Agriculture Officer.
